A Visual History of Type

On Friday, March 18th the Firecracker Press is hosting a reception from 5-10pm for St. Louis Typefoundries, a display of type designed and made in St. Louis. This exhibit is a visual history of type in St. Louis, with example type kindly provided by Carole and Robert Mullen as well as Dick Niehaus of the St. Louis Letterpress Society and supplemented by our own, before being hand set and printed. Some of these typefaces will look familiar, either from their digital form or their use in television and other media. So come get a little learnin’

The SGC International Conference is fast approaching, and with it the debut of the brand spanking new band, Manual Feed, consisting of The Firecracker Press and our friends. While we don’t want to ruin the surprise, we thought we’d give you a little taste of how the rattles and clanks of printing presses can be turned into sweet, sweet music.

Oil + Water - Mixing It Up!
